A taiaha is a traditional weapon of the Māori of New Zealand; a close-quarters staff weapon made from wood, and used for short, sharp strikes or stabbing thrusts. The Tiki represents the human form and one's ancestors. Traditionally passed from parent to child or used for protection and good luck.
